The Philippine Tapestry Fashion Show AsiaAmericanaEditor May 20, 2018 Community, Fashion, News Ticker, Uncategorized 785 In celebration of Asian American Heritage Month, the Philippine Department of Tourism brought to Philadelphia on May 16, 2018 the Philippine Tapestry Fashion Show featuring creations of Rene Salud, the Philippine Fashion Ambassador. The event was sponsored by the Philadelphia Mayor’s Commission on Asian American Affairs. It started at 5pm, with a VIP Cocktail Reception amid the folkloric music of the Philippine Folk Arts Society Rondalla. There were speeches that followed by John Chin, the co-chair of the Mayor’s Commission on Asian American Affairs and Tiffany Chang Lawson, the Executive Director of Governor Wolf’s Advisory Commission on Asian American Affairs. Also in attendance were: Jose Victor Chan Gonzaga, the Minister and Consul for Economic Affairs at the Philippine Embassy in Washington DC; Philippine Deputy Consul General Kerwin Tate of New York; Philippine Consul Arman Talbo of New York; and the Philippine Tourism Attache, Susan Del Mundo. The highlight of the event is a showcase of Philippine Fashion. Famous models from the Philippines adorned the audience with fabrics from different regions as well as attires for formal occasions.
