Renee Salud’s 2015 Filipiniana collection was unveiled in a fashion show at the Philippine Consulate General of New York. A total of 18 models lined the Philippine hallmark next to the Rockefeller Center , amidst the bustling New York City fashion center on Fifth Avenue. Manila’s fashion icon Renee Salud launched a traffic-stopper on Fifth Avenue as his models from the local community paraded the colorful Filipiniana collection, dubbed as tataksalud NYC 2015. The lobby of the Philippine-owned building turned into a high fashion ramp showcasing a variety of fabrics, embroidery and designs, from the versatile barong to the vastly popular terno embellished by pearls and jewels. Tataksalud barong, made of pina silk, can be worn as a jacket, topper or mini-dress, in varying shades from off-white to gray. The runway project kicked off on June 27, 2015 at the Hilton Hotel, New Jersey in a formal dinner and fashion show, for the benefit of ”Feed the Children Program” of Catbalogan II Elementary School, Samar province. This was followed by ramp modeling on July 1, 2015 at the Philippine Consulate lobby at 556 Fifth Avenue, NYC which proudly serves as the Philippines show window to the world. Caught in the busy Manhattan sidewalk are three of the high fashion lines of tataksalud NYC2015. Co-sponsoring the project are Fil-Am Who’s Who magazine, chaired by Ollie David and Honorary Chair Eleanor DeLeon, Philippine Airlines, GMA Life TV, GMA Pinoy TV, International Marketing Group, Robinson’s Land and the Zen Institute. New York Consul General Mario DeLeon Jr. acknowledged Fil-Am Who’s Who publication initiatives in honoring Filipino-American achievers and real-life success stories that resonate with the young generation. Renee Salud weaves a fusion of traditional Filipino dress and contemporary fashion for the young Filipino-Americans.
